A new Android Software Development Toolkit (SDK) is about to be released, and according to Dan Morrill, Developer Advocate for Google, the new SDK will be sporting a retooled user interface. He made the comment while speaking at the Google Android Workshop in Munich, Germany.

Ribbit is a Silicon Valley-based (Mountain View, CA USA) startup that was previously covered here. That post showcased Ribbit’s Chalkboard phone. Ribbit has released another end-user application called the Amphibian. If you were impressed by the Chalkboard phone, then you will be wowed by Amphibian.

The deadline for submission of projects in the Android Developer Challenge has been extended. The extension was the result of feedbacks from the Android developer community, and affects the deadlines for both the Challenge I and Challenge II parts of the contest.

The video below shows examples of special effect animations using physical modeling techniques, as developed by Professor Ron Fedkiw and his group at Stanford. Intel is working with Professor Ron’s group and has plans to scale this effects down and make them run in real time on PCs.

Sprint, a member of the Open Handset Alliance (OHA), has announced that it has taken legal action against four companies it says are violating its Voice over Packet (VOP) patent.. The legal action was taken against NuVox Communications, Inc., Broadvox Holdings LLC, Big River Telephone Company, and Paetec Communications, Inc.

In a joint announcement released today, NTT DoCoMo, Inc. and Google Inc. have agreed to collaborate in providing mobile Internet services. The range of mobile Internet services covered in the new partnership includes search services, search-related advertisement, and potential applications to i-mode™ users.
