Locify: Exploring from your mobile phone

24 July 2008 No Comment

Locify is a location-based service that allows anyone with a supported phone to explore places of interest from “Wikipedia, seek for geocaches, display map where you are (or you want to go), twitter you location, save interesting places from phone or web sync them and even navigate to them”.

Locify is a free service in beta mode, and works with most mobile phones with or without GPS. For phones with GPS, Locify can work with the built-in GPS, or an external GPS module. For map services, Locify can use Google Maps, Yahoo Maps, OpenStreetMaps.org and Mapy.cz.

Locify currently has 8 services - Locations, Twitter, Mapping, Wikipedia, FireEagle, SimpleTrack, Geocache, and Modre strani.si - that are available and ready to use, but with Locify’s open API (and valid XHTML), Web publishers may write their own services. You may view video demos of Locify here
